Rise Park is a friendly neighborhood in Nottingham, England. It's located about four miles north of the main City Centre. This area is home to around 1,500 houses and bungalows, mostly owned by families. There are also a few small apartment buildings.

Discovering Rise Park

Rise Park is a great place to live with lots of history and local spots. It's well-connected to other parts of Nottingham and has plenty of green spaces nearby.

How Rise Park Grew

The building of Rise Park started in the early 1960s. It was finished by the early 1970s. The first homes were built at the bottom of a hill and then spread upwards.

From Farm to Homes

Before Rise Park was built, this area was a farm called Rise Farm. It was known as Bulwellrise Farm until about 1900. The old farmhouse used to stand where Haverhill Crescent is today. A railway line once ran along the western edge of the area. This railway closed in the mid-1960s. Now, it's a lovely tree-lined path where people can walk.

Schools and Learning

Rise Park has several schools for young people. Rise Park Primary and Nursery School opened in September 1970. It started as two separate schools for younger and older children. Top Valley Academy opened in September 1973. Another school, Stanstead School, opened in 1977. These schools were built to welcome all the new families moving into the area.

Shops and Fun Places

When Rise Park was being built, plans were made for shops and a pub. These places opened in 1969.

Local Stores and Pubs

The first shops included a newsagent, a post office, a grocery store, and a hair salon. There was also a general store called Mace and a DIY store. Later, a larger supermarket called Grandways opened in 1977. This supermarket later became Kwik Save. The Charles II pub was also built, featuring large pictures of King Charles II on its walls. Today, some of these shops have changed, and the supermarket site is now homes.

Getting Around

Next to the shops, there is a church that opened in 1968. There is also a bus stop where you can catch buses often. These buses can take you to the City Centre and nearby areas like Arnold and Bulwell. The market town of Hucknall is also close by.

Nature and Neighbors

Rise Park is surrounded by other interesting places.

Green Spaces Nearby

To the north of Rise Park, you'll find Bestwood Country Park. This is a large park with lots of trees and paths. It's a great place to explore nature. To the east, there's another neighborhood that was built in the late 1970s. This area was once Home Farm.
