Robert's Football Journey
Starting His Career
Robert began his professional football journey in Brazil. He first played for Botafogo de Ribeirão Preto in 2001. After that, he moved to São Caetano in 2002.
In 2003, Robert went to Europe to play for Spartak Moscow in Russia for a short time. He then returned to the Americas, joining Club Atlas in Mexico. He did very well in his first season with Atlas, scoring 16 goals in just 21 games. He continued to play strongly, helping his team reach the semifinals in 2004.
Playing in Europe: PSV Eindhoven
In January 2005, Robert made a big move to Europe again, joining PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. He played in 32 league games and scored 7 goals for the team.
One of his most exciting moments was during the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match. He bravely took a penalty kick that helped his team move on to the semi-finals. Even though PSV was eventually knocked out by AC Milan, Robert played a great game in the return leg, showing his skill and nearly scoring a long-range shot.
Time in Spain: Real Betis
Robert was loaned to Real Betis in Spain in January 2006. His goals were very important for Betis, helping them avoid being moved down to a lower league. He scored 7 goals in La Liga, including two in a key win against Villarreal. He also scored a winning penalty against their rivals, Sevilla FC. Robert was the top goalscorer for Real Betis that season.
Adventures in Mexico and Brazil
After his time in Europe, Robert moved to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia in 2007. Later that year, he joined Monterrey in Mexico, where he played alongside another famous goalscorer, Humberto Suazo.
He also played for Tecos and América in Mexico. In July 2009, Robert returned to Brazil to play for Palmeiras. He became an important player for them, often coming off the bench to score.
In 2010, Robert continued to be a key striker for Palmeiras. He scored two goals against São Paulo in a big derby match, helping Palmeiras win 2–0. On March 14, 2010, he scored a "perfect hat-trick" against Santos, meaning he scored with his left foot, right foot, and head. Palmeiras won that exciting game 4–3. After this game, fans started calling him "Blade do Palestra" because he looked like the actor Wesley Snipes, who played the character Blade in movies.
Later Career Clubs
Robert continued his career by playing for several other clubs. In 2010, he joined Cruzeiro on loan. In 2011, he played for Puebla in Mexico and then for Jeju United in South Korea.
