Roche de Smet is a tall mountain peak in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. It stands about 2,539 m (8,330 ft) (or 8,330 feet) high! You can find it in the beautiful Athabasca River valley, part of the De Smet Range within the amazing Canadian Rockies. This mountain got its name in 1896, honoring a person named Pierre-Jean De Smet.
Mountain Weather
The weather at Roche de Smet is what we call a subarctic climate. This means it has very cold, snowy winters. The summers are usually mild, not too hot.
During winter, temperatures can easily drop below -20 °C (that's -4 °F). With the wind blowing, it can feel even colder, sometimes below -30 °C (-22 °F)! All the rain and melting snow from Roche de Smet flows into smaller streams. These streams then join the larger Athabasca River.
