Exploring Rodna's Location
Where Was Rodna Located?
Rodna was found in the very southeastern part of Spokane County. It was in a unique area known as the Channeled Scablands. An old railroad, the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway, used to run right through the town site.
Today, you can visit the area using the Columbia Plateau Trail. Rodna's exact spot is about two miles northeast of the Martin Road trailhead. The trail also connects Rodna to another ghost town called Mock. Mock is about 10 miles north along the trail.
Nearby Places and Features
Between Rodna and Mock, you'll find the small community of Amber. There's also a lake with the same name, Amber Lake. If you visit the Amber Lake trailhead, you can find restrooms. However, there are no other services in the small Amber community.
The area around Rodna is full of lakes and ponds. Most of these water bodies point in a southwest-to-northeast direction. This interesting pattern was created by the powerful Missoula floods. These ancient floods carved out the landscape long ago.
