Romeral is a town and a "commune" in Chile. A commune is like a local government area. It is located in the Curicó Province within the Maule Region. The total area of Romeral is about 1,597 square kilometers.

About Romeral's People
Population and Living Areas
In 2002, a special count called a census showed that Romeral commune had 12,707 people. About 3,675 people (28.9%) lived in urban areas, which are towns or cities. The rest, 9,032 people (71.1%), lived in rural areas, like the countryside.
Between 1992 and 2002, the number of people living in Romeral grew by 10.6%. This means 1,217 more people moved there.
Gender Distribution
The 2002 census also counted how many men and women lived in Romeral. There were 6,596 men and 6,111 women.
How Romeral is Governed
Local Government
Romeral is a third-level administrative division of Chile. This means it has its own local government. It is managed by a municipal council. The leader of this council is called an alcalde, which is like a mayor. The alcalde is chosen by the people in an election every four years.
From 2008 to 2012, the alcalde of Romeral was Carlos Cisterna Negrete. He was a member of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC).
National Representation
Romeral is also part of larger areas for national elections.
Representing Romeral in the Chamber of Deputies
In the Chamber of Deputies, which is like one part of Chile's parliament, Romeral is in the 36th electoral district. This district also includes other towns like Curicó, Teno, and Molina. The people who represented this district were Roberto León (from PDC) and Celso Morales (from UDI).
Representing Romeral in the Senate
For the Senate, which is the other part of Chile's parliament, Romeral is in the 10th senatorial constituency. This area is called Maule-North. The senators for this area were Juan Antonio Coloma Correa (from UDI) and Andrés Zaldívar Larraín (from PDC).
