About Ron Ward's Meadow
Ron Ward's Meadow With Tadley Pastures covers an area of 11.3 hectares. That's about the size of 15 football fields! This SSSI is made of natural meadows. These meadows are managed to grow hay. The main part of the site is meadows on a south-facing hill. This hill slopes down towards a stream called Honeywell Brook. The meadows sit on different types of soil. Across from the meadows are two more fields. These fields are also part of this special site.
History of the Meadow
Ron Ward gave this land to the wildlife trust. It was a very kind gift. In 1991, the area was officially named a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This recognized its importance for nature.
