Denzel Spencer (born April 18, 1996), known as Roy Woods (or Roy Wood$), is a Canadian singer, rapper, and songwriter. He joined Drake's record label, OVO Sound, in 2014. This label is part of Warner Records. His first two albums, Waking at Dawn (2016) and Say Less (2017), were popular in Canada and the US. Roy Woods also started his own group called Unlock the Underground.

Early Life
Denzel Spencer was born on April 18, 1996, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He went to Turner Fenton High School for three years. For his last year of high school, he moved to St. Augustine Secondary School.
Music Career
Starting Out: 2014-2017
On July 11, 2015, Drake played "Drama" for the first time. This was the first song from Roy Woods's first music collection, an EP called Exis. The song was also played on Apple's Beats 1 radio. Drake himself was featured on the song.
A second song, "Get You Good," was released on July 25, 2015. On July 31, 2015, Roy Woods officially released his first EP, Exis. It was released through OVO Sound, the record label Drake helped create. Later, on October 9, 2015, Woods released his first music video for the song "Jealousy." This video has been watched millions of times online.
On July 1, 2016, Roy Woods released his first full-length music collection, called Waking at Dawn. Many artists, including Drake and Wiz Khalifa, helped share the news about this release on social media.
On December 23, 2016, Woods released his second EP, titled Nocturnal.
In 2017, Roy Woods released "What Are You On?" This song was the first single from his first studio album, Say Less. The album's title track, "Say Less," came out on November 17, 2017. Finally, on December 1, 2017, his debut studio album, Say Less, was released.
Recent Years: 2018-Present
On June 8, 2018, Roy Woods surprised fans by releasing two new songs, "Russian Cream" and "Snow White." He continued to release new music, including singles like "Worth It" (2019) and "Bubbly" (2019).
On May 8, 2020, he released the single "I Feel It." A week later, on May 15, 2020, Roy Woods released his third EP, titled Dem Times.
In 2023, Roy Woods joined many other artists to record a special song called "What I Wouldn't Do" by Serena Ryder. This song was released to help raise money for Kids Help Phone's Feel Out Loud campaign, which supports youth mental health.
On July 28, 2023, Roy Woods released his second studio album, Mixed Emotions. This album features other artists like Coi Leray, Jada Kingdom, and Vory. Before the album came out, several songs from it were released as singles, including "Touch You," "Insecure," and "Bad Bad."

Roy Woods has shared that some of his biggest inspirations in music are Michael Jackson, Drake, Nelly, The Weeknd, and PartyNextDoor.
