Rubidoux (pronounced ROO-bid-oh) is a neighborhood in the city of Jurupa Valley. It is located in Riverside County, California, which is part of the Southern California region. Before July 1, 2011, Rubidoux was its own separate community.
Over the years, Rubidoux has changed a lot. It used to be a rural area with farms and quarries. Now, it is a busy suburb, meaning it's a residential area near a larger city. In 2010, about 34,280 people lived there.
Rubidoux is right next to the city of Riverside. The Santa Ana River and Mount Rubidoux separate the two areas. Mount Rubidoux is a famous landmark and a park in Riverside.
The area also has Flabob Airport, which has a runway about 3,200 feet long. California State Route 60 is a major road that goes through Rubidoux, helping people travel around.

The name Rubidoux comes from Louis Robidoux. He was an important person who settled in this area in 1843.
Who was Louis Robidoux?
Louis Robidoux came from a French-Canadian family. His grandfather moved from Quebec, Canada, to St. Louis, Missouri. There, the family became involved in the fur trade.
After 1803, when St. Louis became part of the United States, Louis and his brothers became US citizens. Louis Robidoux also became a citizen of Mexico. He even served as the mayor (called an Alcalde) of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The town of Rubidoux is built on land that was once part of the Robidoux family's ranch, called Rancho Jurupa. Today, many of Louis Robidoux's family members spell their last name "Rubidoux."
When Did Rubidoux Become Part of Jurupa Valley?
On March 8, 2011, people living in Rubidoux and nearby towns voted on a special plan. They voted to combine their areas into a new city called Jurupa Valley.
The vote passed, and Rubidoux officially became a neighborhood of Jurupa Valley on July 1, 2011. Other communities that joined Jurupa Valley at the same time included Mira Loma, Pedley, Glen Avon, and Sunnyslope.
