Rugby sevens at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's qualification facts for kids
Getting into the women's rugby sevens tournament at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics was a big challenge! Teams worked hard from November 2022 to June 2024 to earn their spots. Only twelve teams made it to the Games.
Every major rugby region in the world, called a World Rugby zone, had to have at least one team. France, as the host country, automatically got a spot. The other eleven spots were given out through three main ways.
The top four teams from the 2022–23 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series earned their tickets first. Then, six more spots went to the winners of special tournaments held in different parts of the world: Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America. The very last spot was decided at the Final Olympic Qualification Tournament just a month before the Olympics began.
