SPB Hospitality is a company that runs many different restaurant brands. It is based in Houston, Texas. The company owns popular casual dining places like Logan's Roadhouse, Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom, and Krystal Restaurants.
Before SPB Hospitality, these restaurants were part of a company called CraftWorks. CraftWorks faced big challenges in early 2020. Many of its locations closed temporarily. However, SPB Hospitality bought CraftWorks' businesses in June 2020. This helped keep these well-known restaurant brands going.

History of the Restaurants
The story of these restaurants began a long time ago. In 1976, the first Old Chicago taphouse opened in Boulder, Colorado. Later, in 1988, the first Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant started in Palo Alto, California. Then, in 1991, the first Rock Bottom restaurant opened its doors in Denver, Colorado.
Over the years, these different restaurant groups grew. In 1999, Gordon Biersch joined with Big River Breweries. In 2010, Rock Bottom Restaurants and Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Group came together. They formed a new company called CraftWorks Restaurants and Breweries, Inc.
In 2018, CraftWorks grew even more. It bought Logan's Roadhouse, a popular chain known for its steaks and rolls. Logan's Roadhouse first opened in 1991 in Lexington, Kentucky. Its menu includes grilled steaks, American dishes, and homemade yeast rolls.
SPB Hospitality Takes Over
In 2020, CraftWorks faced financial difficulties. To keep the restaurants operating, SPB Hospitality stepped in. On June 12, 2020, SPB Hospitality bought CraftWorks' businesses. This purchase helped many of the restaurant brands continue serving their customers.
After this, SPB Hospitality continued to grow its family of restaurants. In 2021, it added J. Alexander's Holdings to its group. Then, in 2023, SPB Hospitality also acquired Krystal Restaurants.
