Salamanca Place is a lively area in Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania, Australia. It's famous for its old sandstone buildings and the popular Saturday market.

This special place is made up of many old sandstone buildings. These buildings used to be warehouses, which are like big storage rooms for goods coming in and out of the port of Hobart. Today, they have been changed into fun places like restaurants, art galleries, craft shops, and offices.

Salamanca Place got its name from a famous battle. It was named after the victory in 1812 of the Duke of Wellington in the Battle of Salamanca. This battle took place in a part of Spain called province of Salamanca. Before it was called Salamanca Place, it had a different name: "The Cottage Green."
