Salmon Creek is a small community in Sonoma County, California. It's called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government. It's also a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area the government defines for gathering census data.
Salmon Creek is located right on the Pacific coast. It's about a 90-minute drive north of San Francisco. You can find it between the towns of Jenner and Bodega Bay, California. In 2010, only 86 people lived there.
The community is bordered by Salmon Creek to the north. To the east, you'll find State Route 1, a famous coastal highway. The Sonoma Coast State Beach is to the west and south.

History
Early Inhabitants
Long ago, a Coast Miwok village called Pulya-lakum was located near the mouth of Salmon Creek. These were the original people living in this area.
Russian Influence
In 1812, a Russian company called the Russian-American Company set up Fort Ross. This fort was about 12 miles (19 km) northwest of where Salmon Creek is today. This meant the area became part of the Russian Empire's influence for a while.
