She went to Humberside Collegiate Institute and York Memorial Collegiate Institute for high school. After high school, she studied humanities at McGill University. She later moved to the University of Ottawa. There, she took a theatre class and discovered her love for performing. She then went to the George Brown Theatre School in Toronto to learn more about acting.

Becoming a Star on The Daily Show

On the show, Bee was very good at getting people to show their true selves, often in a funny way. For example, in a segment called "Kill Drill," she talked to hunters and oil company leaders who said they were environmentalists. She also did a series called "Samantha Bee's So You Want To Bee A..." This series made fun of how easy it seemed to get certain jobs.
In 2004, Bee had her first main role in a movie called Ham & Cheese. Her husband, Jason Jones, helped write the film. She won an award for her funny performance in this movie. Jason Jones later joined The Daily Show as a reporter in 2005.
