San Gregorio is a special type of area in the far south of Chile, called a commune. It is part of the Magallanes Region and Province. The main town in this commune is Punta Delgada, which is where the local government is located.

This commune is found on the northern side of the Strait of Magellan. To the south is the Strait, and to the north is the border with Argentina. At a place called Primera Angostura, near Punta Delgada, there is a ferry that can take you across to Primavera commune on Tierra del Fuego Island. San Gregorio is also a good spot for wind power because it gets a lot of wind.

Near San Gregorio, you can see the remains of two old cargo ships from the 1800s.
