Santee is a town in Orangeburg County, located in central South Carolina, United States. It sits along the Santee River Valley. Santee is known as a popular place for visitors. It is famous for its golf courses, Lake Marion, and Santee State Park.
A big highway, I-95, makes it easy for people to visit. I-95 crosses a part of Lake Marion on a special road called a causeway. Lake Marion is a huge lake made by people to create electricity. It covers about 110,000 acres (450 square kilometers).
In 2020, the town had 797 people. Santee has been growing, with new homes and businesses appearing.
The Santee Cooper Regional Water System helps provide clean water to Santee and nearby counties. This project is expected to bring many new jobs to the area.
