Sapphiretown is a small place, also called a locality, in South Australia. It is found on the northern coast of Dudley Peninsula on Kangaroo Island. Sapphiretown looks out over Eastern Cove, which is part of Nepean Bay. It is about 121 kilometers (75 miles) south of Adelaide, the state capital. It is also about 16 kilometers (10 miles) southwest of Penneshaw.

Sapphiretown was first set up as a government town in January 1878. This was done by Sir William Jervois, who was the tenth governor of South Australia. The area for the town was first mapped out in March 1877.
