Sax is a small, quiet place in Minnesota, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a small settlement that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called McDavitt Township in Saint Louis County.

Where is Sax Located?

This little community is found about 9 miles (14.5 km) northwest of a town called Cotton. You can find it where two roads meet: Saint Louis County Highway 7 (also known as CR 7) and County Road 28 (Sax Road). Another road, County Road 52 (Arkola Road), is also very close by.

A Glimpse into Sax's Past

Sax has a bit of history, even if it's a small place. It once had its own post office! This post office opened in 1916. It helped people send and receive mail for many years before it closed down in 1930. The community got its name from a person named Solomon Saxe. He was one of the first people to own the land where Sax is now located.
