The scepter-bearing fleabane (scientific name: Erigeron sceptrifer) is a type of flowering plant. It belongs to the daisy family, just like sunflowers and dandelions! This plant grows in North America. You can find it in northern Mexico and the southeastern part of the United States.

About Scepter-Bearing Fleabane

The scepter-bearing fleabane is an annual herb. This means it completes its whole life cycle, from seed to flower to new seeds, in just one year. It can grow quite tall, reaching up to 80 centimeters (about 32 inches).

What It Looks Like

This plant has a thin taproot, which is a main root that grows straight down into the soil. The plant produces many flower heads, usually between 20 and 50 of them. These flower heads grow in a loose group.

Each flower head is like a mini-bouquet! It can have up to 195 white ray florets. These are the petal-like parts you see on the outside of a daisy. In the center, there are many yellow disc florets. These are the tiny, tightly packed flowers in the middle.

Where Scepter-Bearing Fleabane Grows

Erigeron sceptrifer likes to grow in grasslands. You can often spot it growing near different types of trees. It's commonly found alongside widely spaced pine, oak, and juniper trees.

This plant has been found in several places. In Mexico, it grows in the states of Chihuahua, Sonora, and San Luis Potosí. In the United States, it has been seen in Cochise County in Arizona.
