Where is Schlater?
Schlater is found in the northwestern part of Leflore County. A road called Mississippi Highway 442 goes right through the town. If you go east on this road for about 3 miles, you'll reach U.S. Route 49E. If you go west for about 10 miles, you'll get to Doddsville and U.S. Route 49W.
From Schlater, it's about 17 miles northwest to Greenwood. Greenwood is the main city and the "county seat" of Leflore County. This means it's where the county government offices are located.
The town of Schlater covers an area of about 3.0 square kilometers (or 1.15 square miles). All of this area is land. A narrow waterway called McNutt Lake flows through the town. This lake connects to Ashland Brake on the east and the Quiver River on the west. The Quiver River is part of the larger Yazoo River system.
