The Story of Moon Monster Madness
An Unexpected Trip to Space
The movie begins with Daphne trying to pass her driving test. She's in the famous Mystery Machine van. Velma cheers her on, but Daphne accidentally crashes the van into a tree.
Later, Daphne and Velma win a special lottery! The prize is a trip into space. Soon, they are heading to the stars with some interesting people. These include billionaire Sly Baron and skilled astronaut Shannon Lucas.
They also meet retired astronauts Zip Elvin and Colt Steelcase. An alien hunter named Ridley is there, along with football star Uvininous "U-boat" Botango. News reporter Clark Sparkman also joins, and he quickly takes a liking to Velma, which she finds a bit annoying.
Of course, Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo are also on board! Fred tries to team up with Zip and Colt, but they aren't too thrilled. Shaggy and Scooby are happy to see U-boat.
Shannon tells Daphne that she scored the highest on the space test. This surprises Velma, and she starts to feel a bit jealous of Daphne.
Mystery on the Moon
Everyone soon boards Sly's spaceship, the Sly Star One. They blast off into space! Once they are floating among the stars, they meet a robot named H.A.M. He has a very strange and dark sense of humor.
After a while, a mysterious alien starts causing trouble on the ship. This forces the ship to land on Sly's space resort. This resort is located on the dark side of the Moon.
There, they are greeted by Sly's twin brother, Hudson, and some Sly Bots. Scooby and Shaggy go off to find some food. Meanwhile, their friends search for the alien. Velma's jealousy towards Daphne grows, causing problems in their friendship. Fred continues to bother Zip and Colt.
Scooby and Shaggy are briefly chased by the alien. Then they meet U-boat, who tells them to think of something that doesn't scare them when they are afraid. Fred decides to set a trap for the alien. During the plan, Daphne and Velma keep arguing. Velma even says she wonders if Daphne is the real astronaut.
Unmasking the Alien
The gang eventually catches the alien. It turns out to be Shannon! She explains that she wanted to convince people on Earth that space travel is dangerous for regular people. She believed it should only be for professionals.
Shannon used her alien costume to make this happen. She also used most of the other characters to unknowingly help her plan. She realized that with Scooby and his friends around, they would expose her alien trick. So, she made it hard for them to work together.
Shannon admits she lied about Daphne getting the highest score. She knew this would cause problems between Daphne and Velma. She then reveals that it was actually Shaggy who got the highest score! Everyone, including Velma and Shaggy, is very surprised.
Shannon traps the heroes behind a glass wall. She tells them she has planted bombs all over the resort to blow it up. She then heads back to the now-fixed Sly Star One to return to Earth alone. She plans to leave the others to their doom.
A Heroic Escape
H.A.M. then reveals he isn't a robot at all! He's a human actor. The gang quickly escapes the glass wall. They rush into an exact copy of the Sly Star One, which Hudson built.
However, the fuel tank is broken. Luckily, Zip and Colt hold it down, finally letting Fred help them. When the others wonder who will fly the ship, falling metal knocks everyone out. Velma tells Daphne that she has to fly them home.
At first, Daphne doesn't think she can do it. But Velma assures her that she believes in her because Daphne is her best friend.
Hearing Velma's encouraging words, Daphne manages to get the ship off the ground. She flies everyone safely home! Once back on Earth, the heroes confront Shannon and expose her whole plan. She is then taken to prison.
After Shannon is taken away, Daphne and Velma make up and become friends again. The movie ends with Daphne driving the Mystery Machine once more, with all her friends by her side.
