Scott Vincent Baio (born September 22, 1960) is an American actor. He is famous for his roles in popular TV shows and movies. He played Chachi Arcola in the sitcom Happy Days from 1977 to 1984. He also starred in its spin-off, Joanie Loves Chachi, from 1982 to 1983.
Baio was also the main character in the sitcom Charles in Charge (1984–1990). He played Dr. Jack Stewart in the medical show Diagnosis: Murder (1993–1995). His first movie role was the main character in the musical film Bugsy Malone (1976). Later, he starred in the Nickelodeon sitcom See Dad Run (2012–2014).

Early Life and Beginnings
Scott Baio was born in 1960 in Bay Ridge, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. His parents, Rose and Mario Baio, were immigrants from Italy. His mother was a homemaker, and his father worked as his manager. Scott and his siblings grew up in Bensonhurst. He attended Xaverian High School.
Acting Career Highlights
Early Roles and Happy Days
In 1976, Scott Baio played the main character, Bugsy Malone, in a children's gangster musical film called Bugsy Malone. The movie was directed by Alan Parker and also starred Jodie Foster. Baio and Foster later worked together again in the teen drama Foxes (1980).
When he was 16, Baio got a big role as The Fonz's cousin, Chachi Arcola, on the hit TV show Happy Days. He also appeared in TV dramas like The Boy Who Drank Too Much and Senior Trip.
Joanie Loves Chachi and Music
From 1982 to 1983, Baio starred with his Happy Days co-star Erin Moran in their own show, Joanie Loves Chachi. The show was about their characters, Joanie and Chachi, who were aspiring singers. Even though the show was canceled after 17 episodes, Baio signed a record deal with RCA Victor. He released two albums and three singles. His self-titled album reached number 181 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Charles in Charge and Other Projects
In 1982, Baio appeared in the movie Zapped!. He also starred in a special HBO presentation called Gemini. From 1984 to 1990, Baio starred in the popular TV comedy series Charles in Charge. In 1985, he was part of the cast for Alice in Wonderland, where he played Pat the Pig. He also directed episodes of the children's comedy series Out of This World from 1987 to 1991.
1990s and Beyond
During the 1990s, Baio appeared in many TV shows. He was in the short-lived show Baby Talk. In 1991, he appeared in the NBC movie Perry Mason and the Case of the Fatal Fashion. From 1993 to 1995, he played Dr. Jack Stewart in the medical mystery series Diagnosis: Murder.
Baio also made guest appearances on shows like Full House, Touched by an Angel, Veronica's Closet, and The Nanny. He starred in several films released on TV and video, including Detonator and Mixed Blessings.
In the 2000s, Baio continued to act in independent films like Very Mean Men (2000) and The Bread, My Sweet (2001). In 2004, he was in Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2. He also played himself in the 2005 film Cursed.
From 2005 to 2013, Baio appeared in five episodes of Arrested Development as the Bluth family's lawyer, Bob Loblaw. He was nominated for an award for this role. In 2007, Baio starred in the VH1 reality series Scott Baio Is 45...and Single and its follow-up, Scott Baio Is 46...and Pregnant. He also co-hosted the VH1 reality show Confessions of a Teen Idol.
From 2012 to 2015, Baio starred in and produced the Nick at Nite comedy See Dad Run. In 2014, he guest-starred in an episode of Sam & Cat as a police officer.
Personal Life
In 2001, Scott Baio got engaged to Jeanette Jonsson. In 2007, he married Renée Sloan. Renée gave birth to their daughter, Bailey, in 2007. Bailey was born five weeks early. After Bailey was diagnosed with a rare metabolic disorder, the family started the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation. This foundation helps other families dealing with metabolic disorders by providing financial support. Scott is also the stepfather to Renée's daughter, Kalyn, who was born in 1989.
Scott Baio is a cousin of former actor Jimmy Baio, baseball player Harrison Bader, and musician Chris Baio.
Political Views
Scott Baio is a registered Republican. He describes his political views as conservative. He supported Ronald Reagan when he was younger and attended Reagan's funeral in 2004. He said that President Reagan made him "feel proud to be an American."
Baio supported Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney in 2012 and Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020. He spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention.
