Scott Brown (born September 12, 1959) is an American attorney and politician. He is the United States Ambassador to New Zealand since June 8, 2017. He was a United States Senator from the state of Massachusetts from 2010 to 2013. He is a member of the U.S. Republican Party.

Early life

Brown was born on September 12, 1959 in Kittery, Maine. He studied at Tufts University and at Boston College.

Ambassadorship

On February 17, 2017, news media outlets reported that Brown was under consideration by President Donald Trump to be the U.S. ambassador to New Zealand. On April 20, 2017, it was reported that he was chosen to be the next Ambassador to New Zealand.

On June 8, 2017, the United States Senate confirmed his nomination to a 94-4 vote.
