Scott Sanders' Early Life
Scott Sanders was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He grew up in Washington, DC. His mother, Mrs. Estelle "Bunny" Sanders, is the current mayor of Roper, North Carolina.
His father, John Thomas Sanders, owned a popular barbecue restaurant called Scott's BBQ. He named it after his son. Famous people like Thurgood Marshall and Walter Mondale used to eat there.
Education and Friends
Scott went to Sidwell Friends School and finished in 1986. He then studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He graduated in 1991 with a degree in radio, TV, and movies.
One of Scott's close friends from childhood is the actor Ben Shenkman. He also went to middle school with Saturday Night Live star Ana Gasteyer. They even acted together in a play when they were in 7th grade.

Scott Sanders directed his first movie in 1998. It was called Thick as Thieves. The film starred actors like Alec Baldwin and Michael Jai White.
Scott helped write the movie's script, which was based on a book. Thick as Thieves was shown for the first time at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival.
The Hit Film Black Dynamite
Black Dynamite is one of Scott Sanders' most famous films. It was shown at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. A big movie company, Sony Pictures Entertainment, decided to share it with audiences worldwide.
Scott directed Black Dynamite and also helped write the script. He worked with the movie's star, Michael Jai White. Critics said the movie was a "wickedly silly" comedy that made fun of 1970s action films.
Black Dynamite won the Golden Space Needle Award for Best Film at the 2009 Seattle International Film Festival. It was released in theaters on October 16, 2009.
Scott and others later turned Black Dynamite into an animated TV series. The show, called Black Dynamite, aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim from 2012 to 2014.
Aztec Warrior Film Project
In 2012, Scott Sanders directed a comedy-action movie called Aztec Warrior. It starred Luis Guzmán as an old Lucha Libre wrestler. He comes out of retirement for the film.
Scott co-wrote the script for Aztec Warrior. The movie was expected to be released in 2013, but it has not been released yet.
