Exploring Seaforth's Past
Seaforth has an interesting history. It was first known by the name Okawa. The town was officially planned out, or platted, in 1894. This means its streets and lots were mapped out for building.
The name "Seaforth" comes from Loch Seaforth, a beautiful lake in Scotland. The town was officially made a city in 1900. A post office opened in Seaforth in 1899. It served the community for many years before closing in 1995.
