Seasons of Giving is an animated musical movie from 1999. It's also known as Winnie the Pooh: Seasons of Giving. This film brings together a special Thanksgiving story and two episodes from the TV show The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. These episodes are called Groundpiglet Day and Find Her, Keep Her.

The movie features brand new songs by the famous Sherman Brothers. It's also the last time that Paul Winchell voiced the character Tigger.

What Happens in the Movie?

Groundpiglet Day

Tigger really wants to go skiing, but there's no snow! Winnie the Pooh and Piglet tell him this. So, they decide to ask Rabbit what day it is. When Rabbit opens his door, the wind blows in. It tears off some pages from his calendar, from November to February. Rabbit doesn't notice this. He thinks it's February 2nd, which is Groundhog Day.

To find out if winter will last longer, they ask Gopher if he sees his shadow. Gopher gets annoyed and says he's a gopher, not a groundhog! So, Piglet pretends to be a groundhog. His hat falls over his eyes, so he can't see anything. Everyone thinks winter is over. They start getting ready for spring by cleaning their houses and planting gardens.

Later that day, it snows! Rabbit is upset. He tells Piglet it's all his fault for lying. When Rabbit goes home, he sees the wind blowing the calendar pages outside. He puts them back and realizes it's only November 13th, not Groundhog Day.

Rabbit feels terrible for what he said to Piglet. He goes to apologize but finds a note. Piglet has gone to look for a real groundhog! Rabbit quickly goes to find Piglet. He tells everyone it's November 13th. So, they all decide to get ready for Thanksgiving instead.

A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving

It's Thanksgiving in the Hundred Acre Wood! Winnie the Pooh and his friends bring food for their big dinner. But then, Rabbit tells them that Thanksgiving needs special items. So, Pooh and his friends set off to find these special things.

Find Her, Keep Her

A month later, on Christmas Eve, Rabbit tells Roo a story. It's about how he first met a baby bluebird named Kessie. Later that summer, Owl tries to teach Kessie how to fly. But Rabbit doesn't want her to fly away. He takes her home.

In the fall, Kessie looks out the window. She sees wild ducks flying south for the winter. For many days, Kessie tries to fly herself. Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet come up with an idea. They plan to use a giant slingshot to help Kessie fly south.

Just as Kessie is about to take off, Rabbit arrives and stops her. He yells at Pooh and tells Tigger to let go of the slingshot. Tigger lets go, and Rabbit is hit! He falls off the same cliff Kessie had fallen from earlier that summer. Kessie quickly flies down and catches Rabbit. She brings him safely back to the top.

Now that Kessie can fly, she plans to go south the next day. The next morning, Owl, Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger say goodbye to Kessie. Meanwhile, Rabbit is sad in his garden. He stubs his toe on a potted carrot that Kessie had planted. He rushes to say goodbye to Kessie, but she's already gone. However, he becomes happy when Kessie comes back just to say goodbye to him.

Back in the present, Rabbit tells Roo he hasn't seen Kessie since then. Everyone rushes outside to decorate a tree. Christopher Robin arrives to help. After the tree is decorated, Rabbit remembers he forgot the most important part: a star for the top! Rabbit is very sad. But then he sees a "falling star." Everyone gathers to make a wish. They soon realize it's not a falling star at all! It's Kessie, holding a star. She places it on top of the tree. Rabbit and Kessie hug, and Kessie wishes Rabbit a Merry Christmas.
