DisneyToon Studios facts for kids
DisneyToon Studios was an animation studio that made animated movies. It was owned by Walt Disney Animation Studios, which is a very famous animation company. DisneyToon Studios worked closely with Walt Disney Animation Studios. The studio closed down on June 28, 2018. When it closed, about 75 animators and other staff members lost their jobs. Over the years, DisneyToon Studios created a total of 48 movies. Many of these movies were sequels (follow-up stories) to popular Disney films or new adventures with beloved Disney characters.
What DisneyToon Studios Did
DisneyToon Studios was known for making many direct-to-video movies. This means the movies were usually released straight to DVD or Blu-ray, instead of showing in movie theaters first. However, some of their movies, especially later ones, did get shown in cinemas around the world. The studio helped bring more stories to life for Disney fans, often focusing on characters from classic movies like The Lion King, Cinderella, and Peter Pan. They also created new stories for characters like Tinker Bell and the Planes.
