Christopher Robin in the Books
Christopher Robin is a young boy in Milne's books. He is the best friend of Winnie the Pooh. His other friends in the Hundred Acre Wood include Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, and Tigger.
In the second Pooh book, The House at Pooh Corner, Christopher Robin starts to grow up. The animals of the Hundred Acre Wood throw him a farewell party. It is hinted that he will leave to attend a boarding school. The real Christopher Robin Milne, who inspired the character, went away to school when he was nine years old.
A. A. Milne also wrote about Christopher Robin in his poetry books, When We Were Very Young (1924) and Now We Are Six (1927).
In a later book called Return to the Hundred Acre Wood (2009) by David Benedictus, Christopher Robin returns to the forest for a summer visit. He shares new knowledge with his friends. Even though he is a bit older, he still enjoys spending time with all the animals.
Christopher Robin is known for being cheerful, kind, and imaginative. He loves adventures and is always ready to help. Even though he is a child, he is often wiser than the other characters. Pooh and his friends look up to him. In the book illustrations, his home is a hollow tree with a door at the top of the forest.
The Real Christopher Robin Milne
The character of Christopher Robin was based on the author A. A. Milne's son, Christopher Robin Milne. As he grew up, Christopher Robin Milne felt a bit sad about how famous the character made him. He wrote in his autobiography that it felt like his father became famous by using his childhood. He also mentioned that one poem, "Vespers," which describes him saying prayers, made him feel very embarrassed over the years.
