Sebastopol is a town in South Wales. It's located in the Torfaen area, near Pontypool. The town got its name from Sevastopol, a city in Crimea. That city was captured during the Crimean War. Sebastopol is mostly a residential area. It has many houses, including terraced homes and houses once owned by the local council.

Today, Sebastopol is a large community. It is almost joined with the nearby town of Griffithstown. The border between them runs along Cwrdy Road. It also goes across Panteg Cricket Club and the Open Hearth pub. The Griffithstown Railway Goods Shed on Station Road is also part of this boundary.
Like New Inn, Sebastopol does not have one main town center. Instead, it spreads out along its main roads. These roads are South Street and Greenhill Road.

New Homes in South Sebastopol
Since 1996, people living in Sebastopol have been against plans to build new homes. These plans were for a large green area called "South Sebastopol". The idea was to build many new houses and small businesses. This would fill the space between Pontypool and Cwmbran.
In 2011, the local council said no to the first plans. But in October 2014, detailed plans were approved. Building work started in April 2016.
As of 2019, three companies are building new housing estates. The biggest one is Edlogan Wharf by Taylor Wimpey. Then there's Hanbury Village by Barratt. The third is Pastures Green by Lewis.
