Historic Buildings

St Mary's Church

The village church, called St Mary's Church, is very old. It was first built in the Middle Ages. It was fixed up in the 1700s. A tower was added in the 1820s. This church is a special Grade II* listed building. It is also on the Cumbria Way walking path.

Old Bridges

Sebergham has two historic bridges. Sebergham Bridge was built in 1689. Bell Bridge was built in 1772. Both were Grade II listed buildings. Sadly, Bell Bridge was damaged by Storm Desmond in 2015. It then collapsed and was washed away by the River Caldew during Storm Jonas in January 2016. A new Bell Bridge was built. It opened in December 2017. It even used some stones from the old bridge.

Sebergham Castle and Warnell Hall

Sebergham Castle is actually a farmhouse. It used to be called Colerigg Hall. It was changed in the late 1700s to look like an old castle. This style is called Gothic Revival. About a mile south-west of the village is Warnell Hall. This was once a fortified house. It was built in the 1500s. It includes parts of a much older pele tower from the 1300s. Today, it is also a farmhouse.
