Seewis im Prättigau is a lovely village in Switzerland. It is a municipality located in the Prättigau/Davos Region within the canton of Graubünden. This area is known for its beautiful mountains and valleys.

A Look at Seewis History
Seewis im Prättigau was first written about in the year 1224. Back then, it was called de Sevve.
In 1622, a Capuchin friar named Fidelis of Sigmaringen was killed in Seewis. This happened during a time when different Christian groups were in conflict.
Exploring Seewis Geography

Seewis im Prättigau covers an area of about 49.6 square kilometers (19.2 square miles). A large part of this land, about 41.3%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 34% of the area.
Only a small part, about 2%, has buildings or roads. The rest of the land, 22.6%, is made up of rivers, glaciers, or mountains. These parts are not used for farming or building.
The village is located on a flat area, like a terrace, on the right side of the Prättigau valley. It includes the main village of Seewis im Prättigau and smaller areas called Schmitten-Pardisla. There is also a railway station, Seewis-Pardisla railway station, on the valley floor. Before 1961, the village was known as Seewis im Prätigau.
Seewis Population and People
Seewis im Prättigau has a population of about 1,400 people. Around 10.7% of the people living here are from other countries. Over the last ten years, the number of people living in Seewis has grown by about 9%.
Most people in Seewis speak German, about 93.3%. Albanian is the second most common language, spoken by 2.3% of the people. Serbo-Croatian is the third most common language, spoken by 1.3%.
In 2000, the population was almost equally split between males and females. About 15.3% of the people were children aged 0 to 9 years old. Teenagers aged 10 to 19 made up 14.7% of the population.
Many adults in Seewis have finished higher education. About 68.5% of people aged 25-64 have completed either high school or gone on to university.
The village has a low unemployment rate of 0.84%. Many people work in farming, with 104 people employed in this area. There are also businesses in manufacturing and services.
Regarding religion, in 2000, about 14.1% of the people were Roman Catholic. A larger group, 69.8%, belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church. A small number of people belonged to other Christian churches or were Islamic. Some people did not belong to any church.

The old ruins of Castle Fracstein are a very important historical site in Switzerland. They are listed as a national heritage site. This means they are protected because of their historical value.
Getting Around Seewis
The municipality has its own railway station called Seewis-Pardisla. This station is on the Landquart–Davos Platz line. Trains from this station regularly travel to Rhäzüns and Schiers, making it easy for people to travel.
