Sergei Yevgenyevich Aleinikov (born November 7, 1961) is a former professional footballer from Belarus. He also played for the Soviet Union national team. Today, he works as a coach.
Sergei was known for playing as a defensive midfielder. This means he helped protect his team's goal. He was good at running a lot, thinking smartly, and passing the ball well. He could also play in defense as a sweeper or centre-back.
In 2024, he became a sporting director for PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv. This role involves managing the sports side of a club.

Sergei's Football Journey
Sergei Aleinikov was born in Minsk, which is now the capital of Belarus. His football career began in 1981 when he joined Dinamo Minsk.
Playing for Dinamo Minsk
With Dinamo Minsk, Sergei quickly became a key player. In 1982, his team won the Soviet Top League, which was the top football league in the Soviet Union. He played for Dinamo Minsk until 1989.
Playing for Juventus
In 1989, Sergei moved to Italy to play for Juventus FC, a very famous club. This was a big step in his career. While at Juventus, he helped the team win two important trophies in 1990: the UEFA Cup and the Coppa Italia. The UEFA Cup is a major European competition, and the Coppa Italia is Italy's main cup competition.
Later Club Career
After Juventus, Sergei joined another Italian team, U.S. Lecce, in 1990. He played there for two years. In 1992, he moved to Japan to play for Gamba Osaka. He finished his playing career in 1996 with a Swedish team called IK Oddevold.
Playing for His Country
Sergei Aleinikov played for the Soviet Union national football team many times. From 1984 to 1991, he played 73 games and scored six goals. He was part of the Soviet team that reached the final of Euro 1988, a big European tournament. They lost to the Netherlands in the final.
After the Soviet Union broke up, he played for the CIS in 1992. Later, he played for the newly independent Belarus. He played four games for Belarus, with his last game in 1994 against Luxembourg.
A Special Award
In November 2003, Sergei received a special award. UEFA, the European football organization, celebrated its 50th birthday. They chose Sergei as the "Golden Player" for Belarus. This award recognized him as the most outstanding player from Belarus over the past 50 years.
Sergei's Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Sergei Aleinikov became a football coach.
Coaching in Italy
From 2007 to 2008, he was the head coach for an amateur team in Italy called Kras. He coached Kras again from 2011 to 2012. He also spent time coaching youth teams, including at the famous Juventus Youth Academy from 2005 to 2007.
Sergei's Family
Sergei Aleinikov has a son named Artur, who was born in 1991. Artur also became a midfielder in football, following in his father's footsteps. He was part of the Novara team in 2009.
