Shakka's Music Journey
Starting Out: 2009–2011

This EP was Shakka's first step into the music world. He chose to sing with his natural British accent. This was different from many other artists at the time who used an American-influenced accent. His unique sound became his trademark.
In 2011, he released a creative mixtape called The Shakka Crown Affair. This mixtape earned him respect from other artists. It showed he was a rising creative talent in the UK. It also caught the attention of the successful British rapper Wretch 32.
Shakka gained many fans in the UK. In 2012, he started releasing a series of cover songs and mashups on YouTube called Shakkapellas. These videos helped him gain fans around the world. They also made music industry experts notice him.
Becoming Famous: 2013–2014
The year 2013 was very successful for Shakka. He worked with many different artists. A notable collaboration was on Wretch 32's song "Blackout". This song reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. Shakka was also chosen to perform at the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury Festival. After that, he toured globally with Basement Jaxx as their guest singer.
In 2013, Shakka received a lot of recognition. He was listed in MTV's top 20 Unsigned Artists. He also received two MOBO Award nominations, including Best Newcomer. BBC's Radio 1Xtra supported Shakka's music early on. They played his Shakkapellas and continued to support him as he became more famous.
He also performed on TV shows in 2013. These included 'The Graham Norton Show' with Wretch 32, Sunday Brunch, and Channel 5's The Wright Stuff.
Shakka continued his success with another independent project, the Tribe EP, in 2013. In July 2013, he released the song "Spin" from Tribe. In November 2013, he released the song "Just Want to See You".
In 2013, Shakka also performed in a National Theatre play called "Home." He also produced music for the play. It ran for two months in the late summer. During this play, he shared the stage with Antonia Thomas and BAFTA award-winning Michaela Coel.
