The Shandin Hills are a group of small mountains, also called a low mountain range. They are part of the Transverse Ranges System, which is a big chain of mountains in Southern California.
Exploring the Shandin Hills
You can find the Shandin Hills right inside the City of San Bernardino. They are in the southern part of San Bernardino County, California.
Key Features of the Hills
These hills are separate from and south of the bigger San Bernardino Mountains. They are not as tall as those mountains. The highest point in the Shandin Hills is called Little Mountain. It stands about 564 meters (1,850 feet) high.
A major highway, I-215, goes right through the Shandin Hills. It uses a path called the Shandin Pass. This highway connects different parts of San Bernardino, like the University District and Downtown San Bernardino. It also links the southern and northern areas of the city.
