Shanty Hollow Lake is a large reservoir covering about 135 acres (55 hectares). A reservoir is a special kind of lake that is created by people. It's made by building a dam across a river or stream. Shanty Hollow Lake was formed when a dam was built on Clay Lick Creek. The lake gets its water from both streams and natural springs.
