The River's Journey
The Shashiskau River starts its journey in an unnamed lake. This lake is located in the Shashiskau Hills. It is also very close to Kesagami Lake. From its start, the river flows mainly north.
Flowing Through Lakes and Hills
As it travels north, the river passes through Shashiskau Lake. Here, another river joins it. This joining river is called the Little Shashiskau River. It flows into the Shashiskau River from the right side.
Meeting Other Streams
The Shashiskau River continues its path north. Then, it makes a turn and starts flowing northeast. Along this part of its journey, another stream joins it. This stream is called Harvey Creek. It also flows into the Shashiskau River from the right side.
Reaching the End
Finally, the Shashiskau River reaches its end. It flows into the Kesagami River. The Kesagami River then continues its own journey. It flows into the Harricana River. The Harricana River eventually empties into James Bay. This entire area, where all the water flows towards James Bay, is known as the James Bay drainage basin.
River Branches
Rivers often have smaller streams or rivers that flow into them. These are called tributaries. The Shashiskau River has a few of these important branches:
- Harvey Creek: This creek joins the Shashiskau River from the right side.
- Amisk Creek: This creek joins the Shashiskau River from the left side.
- Little Shashiskau River: This is another river that flows into the Shashiskau River from the right side.
