Shawn Beauchamp-Lalonde, born on March 10, 1990, is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He plays as a defenceman, which means he helps protect his team's goal. Currently, he plays for HK Olimpija Ljubljana in the ICE Hockey League.

Shawn Lalonde's Hockey Journey
Early Years and Junior Hockey
When Shawn was young, he played in the 2003 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. He was part of a minor ice hockey team from Cumberland, Ontario.
Shawn was chosen by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He was the 68th player picked overall. On December 31, 2009, he signed a three-year contract with the Blackhawks. At that time, Shawn played for the Belleville Bulls, a junior team in the Ontario Hockey League.
During the 2009–10 season, Shawn was a top player for the Bulls' defense. He scored 56 points in 58 games, which was the most on his team. Because of his great play, he was named to the OHL Third All-Star Team.
Starting Professional Career
After the OHL playoffs ended, Shawn joined the Rockford IceHogs on March 16, 2010. This team is part of the American Hockey League (AHL) and is connected to the Blackhawks.
Shawn scored his first professional goal with the IceHogs on March 26, 2010. This helped his team win 4–3 against the Peoria Rivermen. He then played in three playoff games for the IceHogs.
Playing in the NHL
On April 14, 2011, the Chicago Blackhawks called Shawn up to play in the NHL. He made his first NHL appearance for the Blackhawks on April 27, 2013. This game was against the St. Louis Blues.
Shawn played for 14 minutes and 47 seconds in his NHL debut. He played both as a forward and a defenceman. He was on the ice for Chicago's only goal, ending the game with a +1 rating. Shawn stayed with the Blackhawks during their playoff run that year.
Moving to Europe
On July 24, 2013, Shawn left the Blackhawks team. He signed a one-year contract with a German club called Eisbären Berlin in the DEL league. In the 2013–14 season, Shawn quickly became a key player for Berlin's defense. He was their top-scoring defenceman, with 12 goals and 30 points.
Shawn did not sign a new contract with Berlin. So, on April 28, 2014, he signed with a Swedish club, Färjestad BK. In his only season in Sweden, Shawn scored 13 points in 50 regular season games.
For the 2015–16 season, Shawn returned to Germany. He signed a two-year contract with the Kölner Haie in the DEL. He started scoring more goals again, just like in his first time in Germany. He led all defencemen in the DEL in goals over the next two seasons.
During the 2017–18 season, Shawn scored 6 goals and had 18 points in 44 games. His contract with Kölner Haie ended on February 27, 2018. He stayed in Germany for the 2018-19 season. He played for the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers, scoring 8 goals and 31 points in 49 games.
Playing in the KHL and Other Leagues
As a free agent, Shawn decided to play in the KHL (Kontinental Hockey League). On May 10, 2019, he signed a one-year contract with the Russian club, Admiral Vladivostok. In his first KHL season, 2019–20, Shawn was one of the top scorers from the defense. He had 7 goals and 26 points in 54 games.
On May 1, 2020, Shawn left Admiral Vladivostok. He then joined Severstal Cherepovets by signing a one-year contract. In the 2020–21 season, Shawn was a regular player for Severstal's defense. He also served as an alternate captain. He scored 4 goals and had 15 points in 51 regular season games.
Shawn continued his career in Europe. He left the KHL and signed a one-year contract with the Austrian team, Vienna Capitals, in the ICE Hockey League. This happened on August 18, 2021. However, before he played for the Capitals, Shawn canceled his contract. He then moved to the Finnish Liiga to play for Ässät for the 2021–22 season.
On June 9, 2022, Shawn returned to the KHL. He signed a one-year contract with the Belarusian club, HC Dinamo Minsk. On February 15, 2025, Shawn signed a contract with the Slovenian club, HK Olimpija Ljubljana.
