Sherman Jarvis Jones (born February 10, 1935 – died February 21, 2007) was an American athlete and politician. People called him "Roadblock." He was a right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball. After his baseball career, he became a police officer. Later, he served in the Kansas state government. He was quite tall at 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm) and weighed 205 pounds (93 kg).

Playing in the World Series
In 1961, Sherman Jones played in Game 5 of the 1961 World Series. He was pitching for the Cincinnati Reds against the New York Yankees. He faced two Yankees players, Clete Boyer and Bud Daley, and got them both out. This was a big moment in his career.

Sherman Jones married Amelia Buchanan on December 16, 1956. He passed away at the age of 72. He died at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
