Sheryl Patrice Underwood (born October 28, 1963) is a well-known American comedian, actress, and television host. She first became famous in the comedy world in 1989. She was the first female finalist in the Miller Lite Comedy Search. Today, Sheryl is one of the hosts of the CBS Daytime talk show The Talk. She joined the show in September 2011 and has been a co-host for a long time. She has won one Daytime Emmy Award and has been nominated seven times.

Early Life and Family
Sheryl Underwood was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. Later, her family moved to Atwater, California, where she went to high school. Sheryl has a sister named Frankie, who was diagnosed with polio. Sheryl now helps take care of Frankie. Sheryl has shared that she was born with a twin who did not survive.
Sheryl's Amazing Career Journey
After finishing college, Sheryl Underwood joined the United States Air Force. She served for two years in the reserves. She became widely known as the first female finalist in the Miller Lite Comedy Search in 1989. She won the BET "Funniest Female Comedian on Comic View" award in 1994. In 2005, she also won the BET Comedy Awards' Platinum Mic Viewers Choice Award.
After her success in stand-up comedy, Sheryl started taking on acting roles. One of her roles was Catfish Rita in the 2005 movie Beauty Shop.
Sheryl was also the host of BET's Comic View. She was also an executive producer and host for a comedy show called Holla from September 2002 to January 2003.

Sheryl was a regular contributor on the nationally broadcast Tom Joyner Morning Show until 2010. She then joined The Steve Harvey Morning Show as a contributor. She also had her own radio show called Sheryl Underwood and Company. On Tuesday nights, Sheryl hosts The Sheryl Underwood Show on Jamie Foxx's Sirius Satellite Radio channel, The Foxxhole.
In 2011, Sheryl became a co-host of the CBS Daytime talk show The Talk. She joined the show in its second season. More recently, Sheryl signed a multi-year deal with CBS Studios to develop new projects.
Education and Community Involvement
Sheryl Underwood has a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also has master's degrees in media management and mass communication from Governors State University.
Sheryl is a lifelong member of the Republican Party. However, she supported Barack Obama's re-election in the 2012 United States presidential election. She also supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
Sheryl is a lifetime member of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority, which she joined in 1990. She has held many important roles within the organization. She was president of her local chapter and served as the International Grand Basileus (President).
Besides Zeta Phi Beta, Sheryl is also a member of the National Council of Negro Women and the NAACP. She also started the African-American Female Comedian Association.
