Blane Muise (born 4 May 1993), known as Shygirl, is an English singer, DJ, rapper, and songwriter. She also helped start a music label called Nuxxe. Shygirl's music mixes different styles like dance, hip-hop, and electronic sounds.

She became well-known after working with her friend and producer Sega Bodega. She also worked with other famous producers like Arca and Sophie. Even Rihanna has used Shygirl's music for her Fenty Beauty ads and fashion shows. Shygirl has released many songs since 2016. She has also released three EPs: Cruel Practice, Alias, and Club Shy. Her first full album, Nymph, came out in 2022. Music critics really liked it.

Early Life and Music Journey

Shygirl was born in South London and grew up in Blackheath. Her family comes from Grenada. She has said she was a "homebody" as a child. She loved to read and imagine things. In high school, she was the head girl.

She later studied photography at the University of Bristol. On weekends, she would travel back to London for parties.

Shygirl released her first song, "Want More," in 2016. Sega Bodega produced this song. It was the first song released on the Nuxxe label. Shygirl, Sega Bodega, and Coucou Chloe started this label together. She continued to work with Sega Bodega on songs like "Msry" and "Nvr" in 2017.

In 2018, Shygirl decided to focus on music full-time. She left her job at a modeling agency. In May 2018, she released her first EP, Cruel Practice. People really liked this EP.

She sang on Arca's song "Watch" in 2020. This song was on Arca's album, Kick I. Before that, they worked together on "Unconditional." All the money from that song went to charities like Black Lives Matter and Inquest UK. In November 2020, Shygirl released her second EP, Alias. This EP also got great reviews from magazines like Pitchfork and Vogue.

In June 2021, Shygirl released a film called "Blu." It showed her performing songs from her Alias EP. It also included a new song called "BDE" with British rapper slowthai. She released "BDE" as a single the next day. Later, she released a remix EP for "BDE." Shygirl also worked with British producer Mura Masa. They were featured on a remix of Lady Gaga and Blackpink's song "Sour Candy." This remix was on Lady Gaga's album Dawn of Chromatica.

In September 2022, Shygirl released her first studio album, Nymph. The album was highly praised by critics. In September 2023, Shygirl opened for the Sugababes concert at The O2 Arena.
