The sigmoid prominent moth is a medium-sized moth. Its wingspan is usually between 28 and 38 millimeters. This is about the length of a few paperclips lined up.
Where It Lives
You can find this moth across a large part of North America. It lives from Newfoundland in the east, all the way west to Vancouver Island. It also lives as far north as the Great Slave Lake and the Northwest Territories. In the south, it can be found at least as far as Missouri.
When It Is Active
These moths are usually seen flying during the warmer months. They fly from May to August. The exact time they appear depends on where they live.
What It Eats
The young moths, called larvae (or caterpillars), like to eat leaves. They mostly feed on the leaves of poplar trees and willow trees.
