Silly Songs with Larry facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Silly Songs with Larry is a super fun part of the cartoon show VeggieTales by Big Idea. These short, funny songs usually feature Larry the Cucumber singing by himself or with other Veggie characters. Sometimes, other characters like Mr. Lunt, Bob the Tomato, Junior Asparagus, Laura Carrot, Archibald Asparagus, Oscar the Polish Caterer, or the French Peas (Jean-Claude and Philippe) take Larry's place.

These silly songs are very popular! They've even led to special "sing-along" videos and collections of the songs. Some songs have even been nominated for a GMA Dove Award, which is a big award for Christian music.

How Silly Songs Work

A Silly Song often starts with a picture of Larry. Then, a voice (sometimes Archibald Asparagus) says, "And now it's time for Silly Songs with Larry, the part of the show where Larry comes out and sings a silly song." But this introduction can change or be skipped depending on the episode.

The Silly Song always appears in the middle of an episode. It usually pops up during an exciting moment or between two different stories. The songs typically have nothing to do with the main story of the episode. The segment might take place on the familiar kitchen countertop from the show, or in a completely different setting. Sometimes, you can even see parts of the stage set, like electrical outlets, behind the characters!

Sometimes, a Silly Song is stopped before it even begins! When this happens, the short clips shown of the original song are extra wild and make you wonder what it could have been. This has happened in episodes like Madame Blueberry, Lyle the Kindly Viking, and MacLarry and the Stinky Cheese Battle.

The segment always ends with the same voice saying, "This has been Silly Songs with Larry. Tune in next time to hear Larry sing..." Then, Larry or another character usually does something funny before the segment finishes.
