List of VeggieTales characters facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

This is a list of characters from VeggieTales, a fun American computer-animated show and franchise for kids. The series teaches important life lessons from a biblical point of view. It features different vegetable characters who retell Bible stories and make funny jokes about pop culture. Many main characters, like Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber, Junior Asparagus, and Laura Carrot, were introduced in the first episodes of the show.

Main characters

Bob the Tomato

  • Voiced by Phil Vischer (1993–2022)

Bob the Tomato (first appeared in 1993) is a friendly but sometimes a bit stressed tomato. He is a host of VeggieTales. Phil Vischer, who created Bob and was his first voice, says Bob is like his "inner Mr. Rogers" but a bit more easily frustrated. Bob and his best friend, Larry the Cucumber, introduce and end almost every show. They also answer letters from viewers on a kitchen counter.

Bob plays different characters in the stories. Sometimes he is just the narrator or storyteller. He also has a super cool superhero side, Thingamabob, who is part of the League of Incredible Vegetables. Bob even sings in some of the "Silly Songs with Larry" parts and has his own Silly Song called "Lance the Turtle".

Bob first showed up in a short video in 1992. He officially appeared in 1993 in the episode "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?". In this episode, he helps Junior Asparagus feel better with the song "God is Bigger". At the end of this episode, a funny thing started where Bob often gets interrupted by the "What We Have Learned" song. He usually has to wait for the song to finish before he and Larry can talk about the lesson and get a Bible verse from Qwerty.

In the Netflix shows VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Bob lives with Larry in a small house on the kitchen counter. He does everyday things instead of just hosting the show. Bob also has different jobs, like working at Pa Grape's General Store. By the end of the series, Bob becomes the owner. Bob also loves collecting socks and watching the weather. For The VeggieTales Show, Bob acts more like he did in the original series. He is the director and host for the stage shows the Veggies put on in Mr. Nezzer's theater. He is a lot like Kermit the Frog from The Muppet Show. Bob also plays Thingamabob again in the "LarryBoy" episodes.

Larry the Cucumber

  • Voiced by Mike Nawrocki (1993–2022)

Larry the Cucumber (first appeared in 1993) is a silly cucumber. He is Bob's best friend and co-host of VeggieTales. Larry has only one tooth and a funny, child-like personality, which is different from Bob's more grown-up style. Phil Vischer said that "Bob wants to help kids, Larry wants to help Bob." But because Larry is often a bit forgetful, he and Bob sometimes don't agree on how to teach a lesson or tell a story. Sometimes, Larry faces problems similar to the kids who write in, and he learns the lesson along with the viewers.

In the story parts, Larry plays many characters. He has several roles he plays often, like Minnesota Cuke (a funny version of Indiana Jones), the first mate of the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, and the funny superhero LarryBoy. Larry also has his own popular musical part called "Silly Songs with Larry". In these, he performs funny songs. This became a very popular part of VeggieTales and is in almost every original episode.

Phil Vischer first thought of Larry as a chocolate bar. But Vischer's wife, Lisa, said parents might not like a show with a candy bar because it could encourage unhealthy eating. After becoming a cucumber, Larry was used in a 20-second animation test called "Mr. Cuke's Screen Test," which was the start of VeggieTales. Larry then appeared in a 1992 promo video, chasing his blue wind-up lobster while Bob gave a speech. Larry's first public appearance was in the first episode, "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?". In this episode, he makes most of the jokes. For the first two episodes, Mike Nawrocki voiced Larry with a lower, dumber sound. He later changed the voice to a higher pitch with a slight lisp in the third episode, "Are You My Neighbor?". Over time, Larry's lisp became less noticeable.

In VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Larry is Bob's roommate. Larry is the messy one, and Bob is the neat one. In these shows, Larry likes silly things like eating sardines, riding his bike on the ceiling, and playing make-believe. Like Bob, he also works part-time jobs, such as an ice cream seller and at Pa Grape's General Store. He is still LarryBoy, fighting crime and facing his enemy, Motato. In The VeggieTales Show, Larry acts more like his old self. He often suggests funny ideas backstage and still writes Silly Songs. He even wrote the show's theme song. Larry also plays LarryBoy again in episodes outside the theater, often with The League of Incredible Vegetables.

Junior Asparagus

  • Voiced by Lisa Vischer (1993–2014; 2019–2022), Tress MacNeille (2014–2017)

Junior Asparagus (first appeared in 1993) is a polite little asparagus and one of the main characters of VeggieTales. He is like a typical five-year-old boy, but his curiosity often gets him into trouble. He usually wears a yellow hat with a red brim. Junior has had many main roles in the series. These include his first appearance in "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?" and roles in "Dave and the Giant Pickle", "Lyle the Kindly Viking", "Lord of the Beans", and "Pistachio – The Little Boy That Woodn't". He also has a big role in most "LarryBoy" episodes. He even becomes the superhero-in-training Ricochet in "The League of Incredible Vegetables".

In the "Silly Songs", Junior is a band member of Boyz in the Sink, along with Larry, Mr. Lunt, and Jimmy. He also has his own bedtime Silly Song called "Goodnight Junior". Junior is one of the few characters who has hosted the show with Bob instead of Larry. You can see this in "Josh and the Big Wall!" and "Abe and the Amazing Promise".

In VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Junior lives with his family in a house made from a human-sized refrigerator. He does more normal activities, like going to elementary school or playing with his friends or his dad. He also got a new super alter-ego called Junior Jetpack, who sometimes fights alongside LarryBoy. In The VeggieTales Show, Junior helps a lot with the shows in the theater. He is homeschooled in this series, so he can be in the shows and rehearsals during the day. He also plays Dave from "Dave and the Giant Pickle" again in "Little Things Matter" and Ricochet in some "LarryBoy" episodes.

Petunia Rhubarb

  • Voiced by Cydney Trent (2005–2014), Tress MacNeille (2014–2017), Kira Buckland (2019–2022)

Petunia Rhubarb (first appeared in 2005) is a kind, red-headed rhubarb and the main female character in the series. She has a cheerful personality and strongly believes in inner beauty, self-worth, and understanding others. Petunia doesn't look like a typical rhubarb; she has solid-green skin and looks more humanoid. She often wears nice clothes outside the stories and has red hair usually braided into a ponytail.

Her first appearance was in "Duke and the Great Pie War". She played Princess "Sweet Sweet" Petunia, a character like Ruth from the Bible, waiting to be helped by Larry's "Boaz". Because of this, Petunia is often paired with Larry as a female co-star. She later appeared as the main character in another princess episode, "Sweetpea Beauty". Petunia also has a role in the LarryBoy episodes as a reporter. Later, she gets her own super alter-ego, Vogue, who is a fashionista. She also sang with Larry in the Silly Song, "Where Have All The Staplers Gone?".

In VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, she owns a flower shop and works with her best friend Tina Celerina. Her hair is unbraided, and she wears a purple flower-print dress. Petunia also worked part-time at Pa Grape's General Store early in the series. She is also seen helping Archibald as an assistant in many episodes. In The VeggieTales Show, she leads the VeggieTales Fan Club. She provides letters from kids to help inspire the theme for each show. She also plays Vogue again in some "LarryBoy" episodes.

Laura Carrot

  • Voiced by Kristen Blegen (1995–2005), Jackie Ritz (2002–2005), Megan Murphy Chambers (2009), Keri Pisapia (2010–2013) Gigi Abraham (2014), Tress MacNeille (2014–2017), Kira Buckland (2019–2022)

Laura Carrot (first appeared in 1995) is a lively young carrot and Junior's best friend. She has freckles and yellow hair tied into pigtails. She first appeared in "The Story of Flibber-o-loo" as a background character. Her first big speaking role was in "Rack, Shack and Benny". Laura doesn't have many main roles, but she often gets a chance to shine when a young female lead is needed. For example, she plays Princess Poppyseed in "Princess and the Popstar", Miriam in "Babysitter in De-Nile", and herself in "Celery Night Fever". Her more important supporting roles include the first two "LarryBoy" episodes, "Saint Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving", and a big part in the Jonah movie. Laura also has her own Silly Song called "B.F.F" where she sings with her friend Lavinia using texting slang.

In VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Laura appears much more often. She is the main character in many episodes. In the first episode, she learns about responsibility while earning money to adopt puppies. Laura also loves animals. She owns a pet guppy, started an animal-sitting service, and even became "The Guppy Whisperer" to help other Veggies care for their pets. She lives in a carrot-shaped house built into the kitchen island. She goes to school with Junior and becomes friends with a bullied girl named Callie Flower. Laura also became the superhero Night Pony after being taught by the retired Granny Asparagus. In The VeggieTales Show, Laura helps the Veggie gang with their shows but appears less often than others. She has important roles in "The Power of Love" and "Naaman Takes A Bath". In these, she has a crush on a Veggie pop-star named Jimmy Lucky and trains as Bob's assistant stage manager.

Mr. Lunt

  • Voiced by Phil Vischer (1995–2022)

Mr. Lunt (first appeared in 1995) is a yellow decorative gourd with a Hispanic accent who grew up in New Jersey. He often provides funny, unusual humor and can be argumentative sometimes. He has a brown thin mustache and no eyes. He uses his panama hat or eyebrow wrinkles to show how he feels. He used to have a gold tooth, but it was removed later.

Mr. Lunt first appeared in "Rack, Shack & Benny" as Mr. Nezzer's assistant. They were usually the "bad guys" in early VeggieTales episodes, but they usually changed for the better by the end. Mr. Lunt has also been a bad guy on his own, like playing Haman in "Esther... the Girl Who Became Queen" and Otis the Elevated in "Duke and the Great Pie War". He is also one of the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything and the leader of the Veggie boy band, Boyz in the Sink. Besides his Boyz songs, Mr. Lunt has sung two of his own Silly Songs: "His Cheeseburger" and "Donuts for Benny". He also got a superhero alter-ego in the "LarryBoy" episodes called S-Cape, who is a member of the League of Incredible Vegetables.

In VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Mr. Lunt appears less often in quick guest spots. He had different jobs, like a delivery guy and owning his own repair shop. Mr. Lunt's most important appearance was in "The Missing Jetpack" where he learns to tell the truth after lying to Junior about losing his jetpack. Mr. Lunt had a bigger role in The VeggieTales Show. He often suggested wild ideas and skits that usually went wrong. He hosted a game show called "Wheel of Bravery", sold "Relationship Glue", and even dove into a vat of eggnog. Mr. Lunt also plays S-Cape again in the "LarryBoy" episodes.

Madame Blueberry

  • Voiced by Megan Moore Burns (1998), Gail Freeman-Bock (1999), Jackie Ritz (2002–2009), Megan Murphy Chambers (2006–2014), Tress MacNeille (2014–2017), Stephanie Southerland (2019–2022)

Madame Blueberry (first appeared in 1998) is a French blueberry with a French accent. She first appeared as the main character in "Madame Blueberry". In this episode, she struggles to be thankful. She usually wears fancy clothes and accessories, like wigs, pearls, and heavy makeup. Even though she is a blueberry, she is similar in size to Bob the Tomato and much larger than the tiny French Peas. Madame Blueberry also has a role as the Mayor of Bumblyburg in the "LarryBoy" episodes.

For VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Madame Blueberry was a much more formal character. Her voice even changed to a proper British accent. Although still from France, she liked very typical British things, like cups of tea and being polite. She even lives in a blue teapot-shaped house built into the kitchen island. Sometimes, she became "Madame Clue-berry" to solve mysteries, even though she was often clueless. Her friends also called her "Madame Blue". When Madame returned for The VeggieTales Show, she started acting more like she did in the original series and had her French accent again. She also sings more, calling herself a "French opera singer". She also plays the Mayor again for a few "LarryBoy" episodes.

Pa Grape

  • Voiced by Phil Vischer (1994–2022)

Pa Grape (first appeared in 1994) is a wise, elderly green grape. He has a bushy white mustache and eyebrows, wears a black top hat, glasses, and speaks with a slight Yiddish accent. Pa is often seen as a trusted, older figure among the VeggieTales characters. However, he sometimes seems a bit confused when he shares his stranger stories. Pa first appeared in "God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!" as the father of the Grapes of Wrath. He usually plays a wise or fatherly character. These roles include Mordecai in "Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen", and the angel who guided Gideon (Larry the Cucumber) in "Gideon: Tuba Warrior".

He also has a role as the captain of the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, appearing with Larry and Mr. Lunt. He was also the main character in the movie. Pa also likes to invent things. This part of his personality comes from his role as the inventor Seymour Schwenk in the holiday specials "The Star of Christmas" and "An Easter Carol".

When Pa appeared in VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, he had eyes for the very first time. He also got a smaller hat and a bushier mustache that covered his mouth. He owns a general store in the house, built into the kitchen island. His store is where many episodes take place. He almost always tries to teach a lesson or give Bible advice to the other Veggies, but sometimes they don't listen at first. For The VeggieTales Show, Pa often narrates the show's Bible story parts. He also helps decide which Bible stories are best for the day's show. He stops wearing his hat in this series.

Jimmy and Jerry Gourd

  • Jimmy Gourd: Voiced by Phil Vischer (1995–2022)
  • Jerry Gourd: Voiced by Mike Nawrocki (1995–2022)

Jimmy and Jerry Gourd (first appeared in 1995) are fun-loving gourd brothers. They are a secondary funny duo. Even though they look very similar and are hard to tell apart, they have some differences. Jimmy is orange and talks a lot with a loud personality. Jerry is yellow and speaks more softly and in a flat voice. They first appeared together in "Are You My Neighbor?" as the "new guys" and showed their love for eating and singing show tunes.

Even though they are always together, Jimmy often appears in main roles without his brother. These include the "Omelet" and "Dr. Jiggle and Mr. Sly" stories, and as a member of Boyz in the Sink. Jerry's notable appearances without Jimmy include playing the Swede in "The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down with All the Bananas" and with Mr. Lunt in "His Cheeseburger" (showing his and his brother's love for eating). A notable appearance of both brothers is at the start of "King George and the Ducky". They wear cardboard costumes of Bob and Larry to pretend to be them and take over the show.

In VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Jimmy and Jerry were Bob and Larry’s neighbors. They lived in the pantry on the other side of the kitchen counter. The Gourd brothers also have pets in the series: a dust bunny named Danny and a guppy named Happy Sunshine Bubbles. They also returned for The VeggieTales Show, appearing both backstage and onstage to help with the shows in the theater.

Archibald Asparagus

  • Voiced by Phil Vischer (1993–2022)

Archibald Asparagus (first appeared in 1993) is the typical stuffy, well-educated British "gentleman." He is a contrast to the other characters. He usually wears a red bowtie, has a monocle on his right eye, and speaks with a proper British accent. Archibald first appeared in a 1992 short video. He interrupted and objected to the idea of VeggieTales, saying it was silly.

Archibald officially appeared in "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?". He played the king King Darius in the "Daniel and the Lion's Den" story. This episode also started the ongoing theme of his dislike for Larry's Silly Song parts. He often said they were "too silly." This was strongly shown when he interrupted "The Water Buffalo Song" to scold Larry. Eventually, he learns to relax in "The End of Silliness?". This happened after he canceled "Silly Songs with Larry" and realized how much the segment meant to Larry and VeggieTales fans. Archibald later appears in other Silly Songs starring him, including "The Biscuit of Zazzamarandabo" and "Astonishing Wigs". Archibald also has a role as LarryBoy's loyal butler Alfred. He was also the main character in Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie. Archibald has also narrated "The Good Egg of Gooseville" and "Lyle the Kindly Viking". In the latter, he hosted the show like Masterpiece Theatre.

For VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Archibald was the mayor of the town inside the house. Because of his social standing, he was seen as a government official and a more bossy character. He mostly did mayoral duties like public speeches. However, his new job didn't stop him from having fun with the other Veggies, like going on camping trips and to birthday parties. For The VeggieTales Show, Archibald goes back to his usual role from the original series. He often performs onstage and narrates the Bible story parts. He also reappears as Alfred in the "LarryBoy" episodes.

Mr. Nezzer

  • Voiced by Phil Vischer (1995–2014; understudy, 2021–2022) and David Mann (2019–2021)

Mr. Nezzer (first appeared in 1995) is a rich, middle-aged zucchini businessman. He always wears a formal shirt and a tie. He is business-minded but sometimes a bit self-centered. Although he is always part of the VeggieTales gang, he is somewhat distant from the others because he owns many successful companies. He is often cast as a bad guy, but Mr. Nezzer himself isn't truly evil. Often, he or the characters he plays are just mistaken in their actions and become good by the end of an episode.

A great example is his first appearance in "Rack, Shack & Benny" as the fun but scary chocolate factory owner Nebby K. Nezzer. In this episode, Nezzer performs the popular song "The Bunny Song". Other important roles include playing toy factory owner Wally P. Nezzer in "The Toy That Saved Christmas", King Xerxes in "Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen", Olaf in "Lyle the Kindly Viking", and theater and Easter egg factory owner Ebenezer Nezzer in "The Star of Christmas" and "An Easter Carol".

Mr. Nezzer was not in VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City. He was replaced by a similar-looking but different-sounding character named Ichabeezer. Mr. Nezzer eventually returned for The VeggieTales Show as the owner of the theater the Veggies use for their new series. He mostly makes short appearances to announce the start of each show, which annoys Bob who wants more time to prepare. However, Nezzer did appear onstage at least once in a character role, playing King Saul in "Little Things Matter".

The French Peas

  • Jean-Claude Pea: Voiced by Mike Nawrocki (1996–2022)
  • Phillipe Pea: Voiced by Phil Vischer (1997–2022)
  • Cristoffe Pea: Voiced by Chris Olsen (1996)

The French Peas (first appeared in 1996) are a large group of hardworking but cheeky green peas with French accents. Usually, only Jean-Claude and Phillipe are shown, but sometimes other French Peas join them, including one named Cristoffe, who appears rarely. The Peas often provide comedy for the series and work behind the scenes.

Among many other peas, Jean-Claude and Cristoffe first appeared playing the Philistines in "Dave and the Giant Pickle". This was a nod to the French soldiers in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Phillipe later appeared with Jean-Claude in "Josh and the Big Wall!" as the slushy-throwing guards of Jericho. This continued the joke about the Monty Python characters. The Peas keep appearing in later episodes, often playing mischievous or supporting characters. The French Peas have also taken over the show a few times. Jean-Claude narrated in "Madame Blueberry", and they helped Archibald in "Lyle the Kindly Viking" with funny results. They also have their own Silly Song, "Hopperena," in "'Twas the Night Before Easter".

When they appeared in VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City, Jean-Claude and Phillipe appeared very rarely as minor characters. Jean-Claude's only main role was in "Pa Grape's Son". He went to a father-son day festival with Pa Grape as his "father-for-the-day" while his real dad was in France. Both Jean-Claude and Phillipe returned for The VeggieTales Show. They helped backstage as stagehands and prop makers, and also appeared onstage in the shows.

Supporting characters

Qwerty

  • Voiced by Mike Nawrocki

Qwerty (first appeared in 1993) is the desktop computer on the kitchen countertop. Bob and Larry use him to read the Bible verse at the end of each show. Qwerty's name comes from the first six letters on a standard English keyboard. Even though Qwerty is not alive, he can show feelings and respond to voices. Qwerty is not always perfect at finding the verse; he usually sputters and takes a moment to load it. In the first episode, "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?", Qwerty accidentally shows a meatloaf recipe instead of a Bible verse.

According to Phil Vischer, Qwerty's original design was based on an Intel 80386 computer. Qwerty was slightly updated in "Abe and the Amazing Promise", giving two verses instead of one. He got a bigger update in "Pistachio - The Little Boy That Woodn't" when he got a voice chip. The new design, with a sleeker look and a black screen, looks like an Apple iMac. Qwerty did not appear in VeggieTales in the House or VeggieTales in the City, but he was mentioned in "The Lost Dust Bunny". Qwerty did not appear in The VeggieTales Show because Phil Vischer felt he didn't fit the theater setting. However, Qwerty is credited for appearing in some "LarryBoy" episodes as LarryBoy's computer.

Mom and Dad Asparagus

  • Mom Asparagus: Voiced by Gail Freeman-Bock (1993), Lisa Vischer (1995–2014), Jackie Ritz (2002–2004), Megan Murphy Chambers (2006), Keri Pisapia (2011–2012), Tress MacNeille (2014–2017)
  • Dad Asparagus: Voiced by Dan Anderson (1993–2011), Mike Nawrocki (2002), J. Chris Wall (2012), Rob Paulsen (2014–2017)

Mom and Dad Asparagus (first appeared in 1993) are Junior's caring and supportive parents. They appear in the series to give Junior advice or teach him how to behave well. They first appeared in "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?" as parents helping their son deal with his fears. Both parents appear more often in the early videos, with Dad appearing more as the series continues. They are almost always together or with Junior. Unlike most other VeggieTales characters, Mom and Dad usually appear as themselves and not in character roles. Their biggest roles are as Reverend Gilbert and Mrs. Gilbert in the holiday specials "The Star of Christmas" and "An Easter Carol". They can also be seen in the original opening theme song with their son, Bob, and Larry. Originally, they were just called "Dad" and "Mom". But they were given the names "Mike and Lisa" (after VeggieTales co-creator Mike Nawrocki and his wife, Lisa) for the VeggieTales in the House series. Mike is also called "Captain Mike" and works as an astronaut.

The Scallions

  • Scallion #1: Voiced by Phil Vischer
  • Scallion #2: Voiced by Mike Nawrocki
  • Scallion #3: Voiced by Mike Sage (1993–2002), Brian K. Roberts (2006–2012), Mike Nawrocki (2014, 2020–2022)

The Scallions (first appeared in 1993) are a group of three tricky scallions. They are often the bad guys in VeggieTales. They have appeared as bandits, tricksters, salesmen, and other sneaky types. They first appeared as the Wisemen opposite Larry's "Daniel" in the "Daniel and the Lions' Den" story from "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?". They don't have names, just Scallion #1, #2, and #3. Scallion #1 is the tallest and the leader. He has a long purple nose and often has his stalks slicked back like a ducktail hairstyle. Scallion #2 is the second tallest with a small greenish-yellow nose. Scallion #3 is the shortest and has a big blue nose. They also sing in a barbershop quartet with Frankencelery for the Silly Song "The Yodeling Veterinarian of the Alps" and the songs "Listen" and "A Helping Hand". Sometimes, one of the Scallions appears alone. For example, Scallion #1 sold the Forgive-O-Matic device in "God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!" and played the Englishman and Cedric in "King George and the Ducky". Scallion #3 also appeared as the Milk Money Bandit in "LarryBoy and the Rumor Weed".

Scooter

  • Voiced by Jim Poole (1995–2014), Tim Hodge (2005–2006), Sean Chiplock (2021–2022)

Scooter (first appeared in 1995) is a feisty and rather unusual Scottish carrot. He has a Scottish accent and bushy white mustache and eyebrows. He first appeared as the ship engineer of the U.S.S. Applepies (like Scotty from Star Trek) in "The Gourds Must Be Crazy" from "Are You My Neighbor?". Scooter has also had many important supporting roles in the videos. These include the slightly wild Moyer in "The Star of Christmas" and its sequel, "An Easter Carol". He also has a role as a police officer in the "LarryBoy" episodes. Another important role is as the eccentric Mr. Butterbun in "Dr. Jiggle and Mr. Sly" from "A Snoodle's Tale". Scooter is also very proud of his Scottish background, as seen in the Silly Song "Kilts and Stilts".

George

  • Voiced by Phil Vischer

George (first appeared in 1995) is an old green onion with a handlebar mustache. He often tells the stories in some episodes. He first appeared in "Rack, Shack, and Benny" as the chocolate factory's security guard and narrated the story. George later narrated "The Toy That Saved Christmas", where he was a postman and was revealed to be Annie's grandfather. After a 12-year break, George reappeared to narrate again in "Tomato Sawyer and Huckleberry Larry's Big River Rescue" as the storyteller Clark Wayne (like Mark Twain). George made a few small appearances throughout the rest of the original series, often playing older or wise characters.

Annie

  • Voiced by Shelby Vischer (1996–2002), Ally Nawrocki (2005–2011), Maggie Roberts (2011–2013), Megan Murphy Chambers (2014)

Annie (first appeared in 1996) is a little green onion girl who is friends with Junior and Laura. She is kind-hearted, has short brown hair, and wears glasses, a hair bow (a black beret in "Madame Blueberry"), and different dresses or a blouse and skirt. She first appeared in "The Toy That Saved Christmas" being told a bedtime story by her grandpa, George. Annie later appeared in "Madame Blueberry", playing a poor French girl who shows Madame Blueberry how to be thankful. Annie's parents also appeared with her in small, silent roles. Her father and mother were designed to look like Phil and Lisa Vischer as a joke. Annie has made other appearances, often seen with Junior and the other Veggie kids. These include the "Bully Trouble" part from "Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's Hairbrush" and the Jonah movie.

Percy and Li'l Pea

Oscar the Polish Caterer

  • Voiced by Mike Nawrocki (1996–2022), J. Chris Wall (2007), Phil Vischer (2013)

Oscar the Polish Caterer (first appeared in 1996) is a pale yellow gourd with a Polish accent. He has black hair with a mustache and often wears a chef's hat and an apron. Oscar usually appears in cooking roles, like a food caterer, a chef, and an ice cream man. He was first mentioned in the Silly Song "Love My Lips" by Larry, who talked about meeting him in lip therapy. Although Oscar's first real appearance was in the Silly Song "The Blues with Larry", he first appeared on the album A Very Veggie Christmas. He catered the Veggie's Christmas party and sang "The Eight Polish Foods of Christmas", which he later sang as a Silly Song for "The Little Drummer Boy". Oscar continued to make small appearances in episodes throughout the late 2000s and into the 2010s.

Miss Achmetha

  • Voiced by Charlotte Jackson (2000–2011), Gail Freeman-Bock (2002), Elise Napier (2020–2021)

Miss Achmetha (first appeared in 2000) is a green onion who first appeared singing "Lost Puppies" in "Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen". Miss Achmetha is known for her constantly twitching eye, her sometimes confused or annoyed mood, and her accordion playing. She also appears in speaking and non-speaking parts in the Silly Songs. These include "Sport Utility Vehicle" (which she sang with Larry), "Larry's High Silk Hat", and "Belly Button". After eleven years, Miss Achmetha returned for The VeggieTales Show, performing onstage in the shows.

Khalil

  • Voiced by Tim Hodge (2002–2014), Todd Waterman (2021–2022)

Khalil (first appeared in 2002) is a caterpillar with an Indian accent. He first appeared in Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie as a rug salesman and a helper/conscience for Jonah (Archibald Asparagus). He is like the caterpillar in the Bible story of Jonah that eats Jonah's shade plant. In the movie, Khalil says his mother was a caterpillar and his father was a worm, which explains his unique look. He often says his skills come from his family, like "Insight runs very deep in my family." He was later the voice of the sock puppet Lutfi, filling in for Larry on the countertop. He told the story of Saint Patrick in the style of a fancy flannelgraph in "Sumo of the Opera". In one of his few later appearances, he played a funny version of Jiminy Cricket in "Pistachio – The Little Boy That Woodn't". He also performs as a guest artist with Boyz in the Sink.
