Simón Brand (born July 28, 1970) is a famous film director from Colombia. He is well-known for directing over 200 TV commercials for big companies. Some of these companies include Coca-Cola, Apple Inc., and BMW.
Simón Brand has also directed many music videos for popular singers. These include Shakira, Juanes, Enrique Iglesias, and Ricky Martin. In 2006, he directed his first movie called Unknown. His next movie, Paraiso Travel, was very popular in Colombia in 2008. Today, he lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife and two children.

Simón Brand's Career Journey
Simón Brand started his career very young, at just sixteen years old. His first job was directing a music video for a Colombian band called Pasaporte. Two years later, he directed another music video for the group Estados Alterados.
Soon after, he moved to Miami because he received a scholarship. This scholarship was from the Music and Video Academic school. His first job in the United States was recording voices for phone companies. After he finished school with great results, Brand started his own company. It's called Kree8. He has produced most of his commercials and music videos through this company.
Before he started making films, he studied different subjects. These included Communications and Advertising at a university in Bogotá, Colombia. He also worked at a local radio station as a broadcaster.
Making Movies: Unknown and Paraiso Travel
For his first movie, Unknown, Simón Brand worked with famous Hollywood actors. These included Jim Caviezel and Greg Kinnear. The movie earned more than US $17 million around the world.
His second movie, Paraíso Travel, came out in 2008. It was the highest-earning movie in Colombia that year. Time magazine even called it one of the best Latin American movies of the first ten years of the 2000s. Well-known Latin American actors like John Leguizamo were in this film.
In 2006, Variety magazine recognized Simón Brand. They named him one of the top 40 most important Latin Americans in Hollywood. He has also been nominated for several important awards. These include the Grammy Awards and MTV Video Music Award.
