About the Smooth Chameleon
Where They Live
The smooth chameleon mostly lives in flat, low areas. You can find them across many parts of Central and East Africa. They have been seen in countries like Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania. They also live in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central African Republic, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Cameroon. Sometimes, it's hard to tell if the chameleons in Cameroon and the Central African Republic are smooth chameleons or their close relatives, the Senegal chameleons.
Their Home
These chameleons love to live in trees. This is called being arboreal. They are often found in the savanna, which is a type of grassland with scattered trees. You might spot them in trees that grow near rivers or streams.
