Snowmass Peak is a beautiful mountain feature in the state of Colorado, United States. It looks amazing when seen from Snowmass Lake. Many people think it is Snowmass Mountain, which is the 34th highest mountain in Colorado. They also sometimes confuse it with Hagerman Peak.
Even though it looks like a tall mountain, Snowmass Peak is actually the lower part of Hagerman Peak's east ridge. Because of something called forced perspective, it can look taller than Hagerman Peak. This is like an optical illusion! In reality, Snowmass Peak is 221 feet shorter than Hagerman Peak. But because it looks so striking behind Snowmass Lake, it is still named on official maps. You can find Snowmass Peak in the Elk Mountains. It is part of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, which is inside the White River National Forest. It sits right on the border between Pitkin and Gunnison counties. It is located west of Aspen and southwest of the town of Snowmass Village.
