Solen is a small city in Sioux County, North Dakota, United States. It is located on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. In 2020, about 70 people lived there.
The city has a gas station and a car repair shop. This business, called Hoffman's Garage, has been run by the same family since the early 1900s.

History of Solen
Solen was started in 1910. It was built along a train track that belonged to the Northern Pacific Railway. This track went from Mandan to Mott.
The city got its name from Mary Louise Van Solen. She was part Lakota and part French. Mary Louise was the daughter of Eagle Woman (Matilda Galpin). She was also one of the first teachers on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
Geography and Location
Solen is located next to the Cannonball River. This river flows west of the larger Missouri River.
