Sophie McShera is an English actress. She was born on May 17, 1985. Sophie is famous for playing Ros McCain in the TV show Waterloo Road. She also played Daisy Mason in the popular series Downton Abbey. Many people know her as Drizella Tremaine from the 2015 Disney movie Cinderella.

Early Life and Education
Sophie McShera grew up in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. She comes from a big Irish family. Her mother is a teacher, and her father was a teacher who later became a financial adviser. When she was young, her family moved to Eccleshill, West Yorkshire. Sophie went to St Joseph's College there.
During her high school years, Sophie attended the Footsteps Theatre School. She got her first big acting chance at age twelve. This was in a comedy play called The Goodbye Girl. After that, she toured with the musical Annie. Later, she studied drama at Brunel University in London. She earned a degree in drama from the university.
Personal Life
Sophie McShera shared in 2019 that she is a vegetarian. This means she does not eat meat.
Sophie's Acting Career
Sophie McShera started her acting career in 2007, after finishing university. She appeared in TV shows like Emmerdale and Doctors. In 2008, she also had a role in the drama Survivors.
Roles in TV Series
In 2009, Sophie joined the cast of the BBC One school drama Waterloo Road. She played Ros McCain, an A-level student, for the show's fifth series. Ros's stories often focused on her school goals and discovering her identity.
After Waterloo Road, Sophie became part of the cast of Downton Abbey. This was a popular ITV costume drama created by Julian Fellowes. Sophie played Daisy, a kitchen maid. The show was very successful with both critics and viewers. In 2012, Downton Abbey won Most Popular TV Drama at the National TV Awards. Sophie, along with Hugh Bonneville, personally thanked the audience for their support.
From 2013, Sophie played Bryony in the ITV2 sitcom The Job Lot. Bryony was a regular visitor to the Job Centre in the show. Sophie also showed her singing talent as Gwynne in the ABC musical comedy series Galavant.
Film Roles
Sophie McShera played the stepsister Drisella Tremaine in the 2015 Disney film Cinderella. She also appeared in the Downton Abbey movie in 2019. In 2022, she returned as Daisy Parker in Downton Abbey: A New Era.
Stage Performances
Sophie has also performed on stage. She played the main role in the pantomime Cinderella at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in 2009 and 2010. In 1998, she appeared as Annie alongside Paul O'Grady during its London run and tour. In 2011, she joined the cast of Jerusalem. This was an award-winning play by Jez Butterworth. Sophie played the role of Pea when the play returned to London's West End. In 2025, she returned to the stage in the European premiere of Shucked at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, playing the role of Maizy.
