The Spanish Ornithological Society has listed it as a key habitat since 1987. The Government of Aragon also recognizes its importance.

Sotonera's Name in Space

Did you know the Sotonera Dam is famous even in space? In 2007, a hydrocarbon lake on Titan was named after it. Titan is one of Saturn's moons. This lake is called Sotonera Lacus.
