South Dos Palos is a small community in Merced County, California. It used to be called Dos Palos Station. It is known as an unincorporated community, which means it's not officially a city with its own local government. It is also a census-designated place (CDP), which is an area the government uses for counting people.
South Dos Palos is located about 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest of a town called Dos Palos. It sits at an elevation of 118 feet (36 meters) above sea level. In 2020, about 1,747 people lived there. This number was a bit higher than in 2010, when 1,620 people lived there.

Where is South Dos Palos Located?
South Dos Palos is found near the southeastern edge of Merced County. It is right next to the city of Dos Palos, which is to its north.
A main road, California State Route 33, runs along the eastern side of the community. This road can take you to other towns like Los Banos (about 17 miles or 27 km away) and Firebaugh (about 13 miles or 21 km away).
Merced, which is the main city and county seat (where the county government is located) for Merced County, is about 29 miles (47 km) northeast of South Dos Palos. You can get there using State Routes 33, 152, and 59.
The community of South Dos Palos covers a total area of about 1.5 square miles (3.9 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no water.
