South Royalton is a small village in Vermont, United States. It's part of the larger town of Royalton. In 2010, about 694 people lived here, making it the biggest community in the town.
South Royalton is famous for a few things. It's home to the Vermont Law School, a special college where people study law. The middle part of the village is a historic district, which means it has many old buildings and places that are important to history. This area is even listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
You might also know South Royalton from TV! It's the village shown in the opening credits of the popular TV show Gilmore Girls. About two miles east of the village, you can find the Joseph Smith Birthplace Memorial.

South Royalton is located in the northern part of Windsor County. It sits right next to the White River. This river is a beautiful natural feature of the area.
How to Get Around
Vermont Route 14 runs along the north side of the White River. This road can take you southeast to White River Junction or northwest to Barre. Another road, Vermont Route 110, goes north from South Royalton towards Tunbridge.
If you're traveling on Interstate 89, it passes west of the village. However, there isn't a direct exit for South Royalton. You would need to use Exit 2 at Sharon or Exit 3 at North Royalton to reach the village.
Important Buildings and Places
South Royalton has a charming main street called Chelsea Street. Here, you'll find a row of shops facing the South Royalton Green, which is like a town park.
Key Village Structures
The village is home to several churches. You can also visit the Royalton Memorial Library, a place filled with books and resources. The old South Royalton Railroad Station has been changed and now houses a bank. The Vermont Law School has many buildings, including Debevoise Hall, which used to be the village schoolhouse.
